| New York, NY – Trend-setting footwear company LUGZ, launched in 1993 by the N.Y. Lug Co., continues their aggressive marketing approach which has made the brand intrinsically rooted in the depths of urban culture. The company has joined forces with Claude Brooks’ (producer of MTV’s “Lyricist Lounge Show”) C To The B Productions and award-winning entertainment website AtomFilms, sponsoring the hilariously twisted flash-animated web production “Forty and Shorty.” The 2-3 minute webisodes spotlight two 13-year-old misfit friends, one black (“Forty” who wears LUGZ boots), one white (“Shorty” that wants to be as cool as “Forty”) who live across the street from each other—one in the ghetto, the other in a trailer park. The supporting cast of animated characters include Mr. Forty, Forty’s cranky father; Grandma, Mrs. Forty’s racist mother; Mrs. Shorty, a white trailer park tramp; and Sniffer, Shorty’s poop-and-boogers baby brother. Catch all the wild and zany action on www.fortyandshorty.com and at www.atomfilms.com. LUGZ footwear is also sponsoring GoodVibe/Barak artists Bahamadia and Slum Village on one of the most anticipated hip hop events of 2000, the Okayplayer Tour. The 45+ date tour will hit over 35 cities, and in addition to Bahamadia and Slum Village, the tour will feature performances by The Roots, Guru, Bilal, The Jazzyfatnastees, Talib Kweli, including surprise guest appearances by the likes of Common, Erykah Badu and others. LUGZ has been involved with GoodVibe/Barak since June 2000, stemming from a radio spot created by Bahamadia and Slum Village for the LUGZ 2000 campaign. The company continued its relationship with both groups enlisting them for the Winter 2000 radio campaign. The start of the campaign will coincide with the second half of the Okayplayer Tour, commencing the first week of November, and continuing through the end of the year. “We very much appreciate the support from LUGZ” says Chris Nagy, co-owner of GoodVibe Recordings. “They have definitely shown their commitment to the future of hip hop with their support of these artists on this tour.” Exclusive LUGZ SUV’s will be on hand at each date handing out various LUGZ paraphernalia.
